Marie Morkos is a bright and motivated high school student who recently completed a hands-on research experience under the mentorship of Maryanne Kihiu (Scott Lab) at the University of Washington’s Pharmacology Department. Recommended for this opportunity by the American Heart Association (AHA), Marie was eager to explore concepts learned in her AP Biology classes and see how they translate to molecular assays used in a research laboratory. Marie has previously demonstrated her commitment to public health by raising over $50,000 for the AHA and advocating for anti-vaping policies. Marie aspires to build a career in the healthcare field.
