Research Summary

The connectivity and function of neural circuits that underlie reward learning and motivation.


Research Statement

The mesolimbic system is characterized by intricate and diverse neural circuits that govern reward and aversive behaviors. My research investigates the signaling dynamics and causal roles of molecularly defined neuronal subpopulations during reward learning with two-photon calcium imaging, fiber photometry, and optogenetics. Through this research, I aim to uncover the complex interplay between neural dynamics within the reward system and the behaviors they modulate, with the overarching objective of shedding light on neuropsychiatric disorders such as addiction and depression.
